Hubs And Spokes Card

The Wayne County Airport Authority,
Detroit Metro Airport (DTW),
and Willow Run Airport (YIP)

 Hubs and Spokes

BASE GAME (2-5 players)

► Rules are included with the game
► Remove example and instruction cards
► Players draw 8 cards each
► Players each choose hub card
► Place hub card face down in front of each player
► Hub card can't be changed
► All other discards are face up to the center of the table
► Players each discard two cards
► Players take up to two cards from the deck if they wish
► Players discard so that each has 5 cards in hand plus the face down hub card
► Players then take turns trading cards from their hand for face up cards
► When no further trades are taken, the game is scored.


SCORING
► Hub= gates x $ revenue
► Spokes = $ revenue
► Spokes of the Same Suit as Hub are Doubled = $ revenue x 2
► Spokes are limited to the number of hub gates
► If hub has 3 gates, players only score 3 spokes from their 5 cards
► Excess spoke cards aren't scored
► Highest score wins


EXAMPLE SCORING
► Player selects MKE ($3, 4 gates) as their hub
► Spoke cards in hand are DTW, ORD, DAY, ATL, and WILD/JOKER
► Spokes of the same suit as the hub have $revenue doubled
► HUB: MKE ($3, 4 gates) 3x4=12 points (revenue x gates)
► SPOKE: DTW ($5) $5x2=10 points (same suit spoke $ doubled)
► SPOKE: ORD ($5) $5x2=10 points (same suit spoke $ doubled)
► SPOKE: WILD/JOKER: ($10) $10=10 points (never doubled)
► SPOKE: ATL ($3) $3=3 points (different suit)
► SPOKE: DAY ($1) $1x2=2 points (same suit spoke doubled)
► DAY is the lowest value card and the MKE card
► MKE has a 4 spoke limit, so lowest spoke not scored
TOTAL: 12 (hub) + 10 + 10 + 10 + 3 (spokes) =
45 points
