Hubs and Spokes
SOLITAIRE (1 player)
► Your hub only serves its own
region
► Remove WILD/Joker and Instruction/Example cards
► Shuffle deck before each game
► Draw 5 cards
► Select two hubs based primarily on number of gates,
but secondarily revenue
► The number of gates limits the number of
spokes for each hub
► For example, a 3 gate card can only have 3
spoke cards
► Place the two hub cards face up in front of you
► Hubs and spokes placed on the table *cannot* be changed subsequently
► Take the three remaining cards and decide (for each) whether to :
1) Assign the card as a spoke to one of the hubs
(by placing the card below the selected hub card)
2) Place the card in the discard pile
► Now, draw one card at a time from the deck and decide:
1) Assign it as a spoke to either hub
2) Discard it
► Continue until each hub has its full complement of spokes or the deck is
exhausted
SCORING
► Each hub is scored separately and added at the end
► All hub suit cards in that hub’s pile = $revenue x 2
► The hub card is scored the same way as a same suit spoke= $revenue x 2
► All other cards in that hub’s pile count as their face $revenue value
► Add the points for the two hub piles together
► Add one point for each card remaining in the deck
► Subtract one point for each card in the discard pile
► Check your math by remembering there are 50 playable cards
► Score: 60-80; Your airline is bankrupt before it started flying
► Score: 81-90; Your airline is flying but loses $100 every second
► Score:91-95; Time for a management change
► Score:96-99; Just blame the loss on oil prices
► Score: 100-104; You WON
► Score: 105+; Cash out and retire rich
► Reshuffle and play again

► PIT HUB:
PIT ($2) $2x2=4
ATL ($3) $3x2=6 (same suit as hub)
BOS ($5) 5x2=10 (same suit as hub)
LGA ($5) 5x2=10 (same suit as hub)
DCA ($5) 5x2=10 (same suit as hub)
BWI ($3) 3x2=6 (same suit as hub)
► 5 spokes plus the hub count because PIT has 5 gates
= 46 points
► CLE HUB:
CLE ($3) $3x2=6
DXB ($4) $4=4 (different suit as hub)
PVG ($5) $5=5 (different suit as hub)
LAS ($4) $4=4 (different suit as hub)
NRT ($5) $5=5 (different suit as hub)
LHR ($5) $5=5 (different suit as hub)
► 5 spokes plus the hub count because CLE has 5 gates
= 29 points
► Hub points = 29+46=75 points
► 27 cards remain undrawn in the deck
► 75+27=102 points
► 11 cards in the discard pile
► 102-11=
91 points
► Check your math:
► 6 PIT hub cards, 6 CLE hub cards, 27 in the deck, and 11 discarded = 50 cards
